Diary entry 01/15/08

**************************************************

I don't really know how many of you people out there follow the web site diary regularly, but those of you who have gotten used to my wanderings and ramblings, know things rarely stay the same for very long. It has occurred to me over this last move and more so over the last two months that I'm in need of some serious down time. The deep contemplative kind that requires sitting, walking, deep thinking and getting away. My creative side is on a search. So instead of just standing in front of a canvas, robotically going through the motions (or at least it feels like that these days) I need to think, and watch, and get out of the way of myself.

So I'm doing just that. I'm going to use my studio as my reading and meditation space for a year. No painting. I'm even considering shoving some things out the door and using the space itself as my new 'canvas'. Also planning some trips  of  undetermined destinations right now. They will unfold.

I've considered not continuing the diary or even the web site. But I'm thinking now to use it as a journal for my sabbatical. So I'm off for a year…maybe two. If the web site drops off the radar, you'll know I've moved on to that happy place I went searching for.

So here is a parting song as I leave the art scene. (yes it's Van Morrison)

ALAN WATTS BLUES

Well I'm taking some time with my quiet friend

Well I'm takin' some time on my own.

Well i'm makin' some plans for my getaway

There'll be blue skies shining up above

When I'm cloud hidden

Cloud hidden

Whereabouts unknown

Well I've got to get out of the rat-race now

I'm tired of the ways of mice and men

and the enpires all turning into rust again.

Out of everything, nothing remains the same

That's why I'm cloud hidden

Cloud hidden

Whereabouts unknown

Sittin' up on the mountain-top in my solitude

Where the morning fog comes rollin' in

Just might do me some good.

Well I'm waiting in the clearing with my motor on

Well it's time to get back to the town again

where the air is sweet and fresh in the countryside

Well it won't be long before I get back again.

Love to you all.
